The chilly morning of November 30, 2025, was no barrier to the enthusiastic bird watchers who had joined The UP Earth Walk, organised at Surajpur Bird Sanctuary. Asian Adventures organised this walk in collaboration with UP Ecotourism and the Global Wildlife Fair, and it was led by Rohit Sharma. He is a renowned personality in the world of wildlife and birding. The walk began as the crowd carried their binoculars and cameras from Gate No. 2 of the sanctuary. Also accompanying the walk was Prassana Gautam, an expert in birding. The walk began with enjoying the serene environment of the sanctuary, which acts as the perfect abode for the birds.

The group had a major success at the beginning of the walk when they noticed a huge flock of Greylag geese that was flying. The moment had become even more significant as it was their landing time. Spotting scopes were used to look at the birds more closely. While Rohit spoke about bird behaviour and migration, the crowd enjoyed birdwatching and taking photos. Another highlight of the walk was when the crowd noticed the greater spotted eagle hunting‌ a catfish. The perfect moment had become a visual treat for both the birders and had also created an opportunity for the photographers to capture the perfect shot of the ‘battle of survival’ between the two species of the ecosystem.

The Northern Pintail was the next to be spotted by the group. One could see avian diversity displayed by the presence of birds like the Purple Sunbird, Black Crowned Night Heron, Pied Avocet and Siberian Stonechat. A standout moment was seeing the Black Necked Stork in its nest, feeding its young. This stunning scene was irresistible to photographers and experts. The Walk's success was evident in the bird-spotting questions raised by the group at the end. The event concluded successfully as Rohit discussed involving locals in bird conservation.

Conserving avian culture isn't only the government's job. Surajpur and places like it would soon become barren if the populace didn't support its initiatives. The method of UP Earth Walks is similar in nature. By educating the public about local biodiversity, people come to understand its importance and their responsibilities toward it. You can also be part of these walks and experience the best of the surrounding nature. To join us for these walks, click here  https://asianadventures.info/p/af0725/
