Pangot has been ‌known to be a paradise for bird watching. The flora and fauna of the place act as a perfect setting to support the diverse ecosystem present in the area. On the morning of 7th September 2025, Asian Adventures, in collaboration with Global Wildlife Fair, organised a weekly Earth Walk to know more about the birds and butterflies that are present in the region. Jagjeevan Singh Dhami was leading the walk. The group started around 8:45 in the morning, and towards the beginning, had early success in spotting birds like Rufous Sibia and Indian White-eye.

He then explained ‌the behaviour of birds, their breeding season and how they choose their mates. He also explained what role the surroundings play in the mating process. The location of Pangot, which is far away from the concrete establishments, supports not only the dwelling of birds but also their flourishing. He further shed light on what kind of trees and plants are chosen by the birds for nesting. He then went on to explain the techniques for spotting birds.
It was then that the Indian white cabbage and Red Argus butterflies were spotted by the group.

During the two-hour trail, he told the group about the eating habits, routes of migration, and general ecology of Pangot to the enthusiastic group. Overall, the walk was an immense success as the group delved deeper into the biodiversity of Pangot, which is a microcosm of the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. The group learnt about the details of the bird spotted, its preferred places for choosing habita,t and how we can recreate these habitats in our surroundings too. Towards the end of the walk, he talked about which plants can be planted in your backyard or garden for your abode to be filled with the chirping of birds. These small initiatives are a significant contribution towards supporting the biodiversity of their surrounding area.
