The reptilian species are as important an element of the ecosystem as the others. To highlight their importance and contribution to biodiversity, Asian Adventures, in collaboration with the Global Wildlife Fair and Delhi Tourism, had organised an Earth Walk in the Aravalli Biodiversity Park in the evening. The walk started with the walk leader giving a description of the location and his encounters with the reptiles in and around Delhi and the Delhi NCR Region. This was followed by the participants explaining their points of interest regarding reptiles and sharing their prior experiences and expectations for the walk. The trail started around 5:30 pm, and the people aligning themselves in a row started trekking through the rugged terrain to trace the reptilian species.

Here, he shared that he himself had spotted about 27 species of reptiles in the NCR region and a myriad of frogs. It was then that the group made the first sighting, which was the skipper frog. He then explained in depth about the skipper frog. These are a type of frog that breeds throughout the year. They usually choose the permanent water bodies, concrete pools or tanks to breed. These are even spotted during the winter months, such as January, and if the birds are seen eating a frog, there is a high probability that the frog would be a skipper frog, making them an essential element of the food chain. The participants inquired about other frog species. He duly explained that the frogs are usually spotted during the monsoon season as they creep out of the ground. There are burrowing frogs as well, which dig deep to eat the termites that are present inside the earth. The participants also enquired about the cricket frogs since their season to be active starts somewhere around March. He shared that the breeding season for these begins around the monsoon, only, as they breed once a year.

It was then that the highlight moment of the walk came when the group was passing through a dried-up pond in the park, and a slithering movement caught the eye of the participants. It was spotted within one crack that had been created in the base of that pond. The participants used the torches to locate the species, which turned out to be a rat snake. After spotting, the participants were bustling with questions. These ranged from why the name rat snake has been given to them to whether there are any dedicated pages for the reptiles in the Delhi - NCR region. He answered these queries one by one, beginning with the reason for their name. The rat-snakes are usually found in the agricultural areas where the rats are present. Followed by explaining that these are mainly non-venomous in nature, and hence an injury is only caused by their bite when the snake is too big, otherwise not.

Towards the end of the walk, he further explained ‌the different snakes that are found in the other regions of the Aravallis. Since one participant had specifically asked about the ribbon snakes, he mentioned ‌his experience of encountering the Pakistani ribbon snake. The walk hence ended on a high note, where the participants were looking forward to more sure walks being organised, which had a special focus on the reptilian species.
