Join us for a refreshing morning at Pangot, one of the Kumaon Himalaya’s most loved birding destinations. Woodpecker Point: Easy Birding at Pangot is a relaxed, two-hour guided walk designed for beginners and nature lovers who wish to experience Himalayan birdlife at an easy pace.
Led by naturalist Kundan Kumar, the walk explores the forest trails around Jungle Lore Birding Lodge, with a special focus on woodpeckers, common forest birds, and the surrounding oak and pine ecosystems.
Getting There
Pangot is located near Nainital, Uttarakhand, and is well-known for its dense oak and pine forests.
By Car: Pangot is approximately 45–60 minutes from Nainital by road. Parking is available around Jungle Lore BirdingLodge.
By Bus: Take a bus to Nainital, then hire a taxi to Pangot.
By Train: The nearest railway station is Kathgodam (approx. 50–60 km). Taxis are available from the station.
