Led by naturalist Tirthankar Chowdhury, this guided experience combines birdwatching with a visit to the Butterfly Enclosure and Butterfly Lab, offering participants an opportunity to explore the remarkable biodiversity of one of Kolkata's most popular urban green spaces.

As the city awakens, Pakhibitan comes alive with birdsong and fluttering butterflies, making it an ideal time to observe resident and seasonal bird species, colourful butterflies, and other urban wildlife. This Earth Walk encourages participants to appreciate not only species identification but also their behaviour, habitats, and ecological importance.

Weather Conditions

Mid-August mornings in Kolkata are generally warm and humid, with temperatures ranging between 27°C and 32°C. Light showers are possible during the monsoon season. Participants are advised to wear light clothing, comfortable walking shoes, and carry a cap, reusable water bottle, and rain protection if required.
