Art is one of the most beautiful manifestations of nature, and to make natural experiences immersive, Asian Adventures, in collaboration with the Global Wildlife Fair and Gujarat Tourism, organised an art workshop under the Ahmedabad Earth Walks. Skilled artist Haseeb Sheikh was leading the workshop. The enthusiastic participants met at the designated location, and the workshop started with the introduction of the leader, followed by the one-by-one introduction of the participants. The workshop began after that. During the first part of the workshop, he asked the participants to roam around the garden and find inspiration, which they would draw during the workshop.

The participants spread all across the garden, some found their inspiration in an exotic-looking plant, while others used binoculars to trace the birds hidden in the trees, which could act as an inspiration for them. After everyone had hunted to find their object of interest, the participants finally sat down with their sketchbooks to try drawing whatever they found interesting. The walk leader himself chose a tree for himself. For many, it was a simple object to be chosen, but the way he worked on the details of the branches and the nests that were present on it had truly mesmerised the participants.

It was then that he shared an important piece of advice: that to get the best from nature, one has to train oneself to be an excellent observer too. It is a skill that would go a long way not just to help people appreciate what is around them but would also be essential in making them more aware of their present surroundings in their everyday life. Participants started drawing the various birds, trees, flowers, animals and the landscape , whatever they found as the most attractive element in Parimal Garden that day. At first, many had difficulty in drawing; the walk leader guided them, and towards the end of the session, it was seen that every participant could draw what was in front of them and had come close to the vision of the masterpieces they had in mind.

Overall, the walk ended on a high note, with the participants fairly satisfied with the progress they had made during the session. Many believed towards the beginning that art was definitely not their thing, but towards the end, they were convinced that they would give sketching another shot. You can convert your Sundays into meaningful experiences and gain something new from the surroundings that we tend to overlook in the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
