Gir is one such location that is a paradise for nature lovers, not just for the lions but for much more natural diversity that the place has to offer. To discover the same Asian Adventures in collaboration with the Global Wildlife Fair and Gujarat Tourism, organised an Earth Walk in the region. The walk started with the participants meeting at the designated location and discussing the whole idea of Earth Walks. The group was inquisitive about the concept of Earth Walks, which all locations have been chosen for their implementation, and what birds they can find during the walk. To this, the walk leader named a few species, and the participants started asking about the special birds of the region and their breeding patterns and plumage seasons. The walk leader further explained that these questions would be answered one by one as they encountered various species.

The pleasant weather and the light sunrays had made the day perfect to discover these environs around the locations. What stood out to the participants was that these lesser-known trails were something extraordinary for them, not just in terms of the view but also in terms of the new information they were gaining about the environment and the ecosystem of Gir in general. It was then in the middle of the conversation that the first species of the day, i.e. the purple sunbird, was spotted, and the participants clicked ample pictures of the bird. They asked various questions regarding the nesting and the food that this bird consumes. After answering these questions, a tailorbird was spotted, and the participants were fascinated by its camouflaging abilities. As a shikra was spotted next, participants had the opportunity to witness it nesting. Here, the walk leader explained about their feeding patterns, which initially include small insects and other species being fed to the chicks.

One of the participants was pursuing their studies in animals and found the walk highly informative for their studies ahead. The walk was a truly enriching one for the participants, where they learnt a lot and even followed the Instagram handles of both Earth Walks and Gir Birding Lodge so that they remain updated with the future walks. You can even become a part of these adventures every Sunday and add something interesting to your weekends to be a part. Click here: https://asianadventures.info/p/af0725/
