The area of Ghughukham is a popular attraction for tourists who visit Pangot. A walk specifically in this region was organised, keeping in mind to explore the biodiversity that is present there. Ghughukham, which is known for its scenic beauty, is equally rich in biodiversity. The group led by the walk leader started this exploration around 9:00 am. As the Gray hooded warbler came into sight, the questions of the participants also kept coming. They enquired about what species are mainly found and the best seasons for witnessing them. Followed by whether there was any major difference between the flora and fauna found here and the other regions of Uttarakhand.

The Bar-tailed treecreeper, along with the Coal tit, was next to be spotted. Special habits of the birds of this area were being told about. The discussion continued as he explained that flora and discussed the vast terms which they can be recognised and categorised. As the grey-winged blackbird and Green-backed tit were seen. The method of the interactions of the various species in the area was explained. The concept of microhabitats was then discussed, throwing light on their significance in ecology and their major contribution in supporting the wildlife in the area. Microhabitats are also an important component in maintaining the ecological equilibrium. As the blue-fronted redstart and streaked Laughingthrush were witnessed, the discussion took a turn towards the idea of conservation.

Conservation results from awareness, empathy and gratitude within humans. No amount of effort by the government can bring about a change if these efforts or plans are not backed by the support of the local community. The purpose of the Earth Walk is to celebrate and bring to light the awareness of the surrounding species and imbibe within the people a sense of gratitude towards nature. The walk ended with the spotting of a Rufous Sibia and a yellow-breasted greenfinch. Overall, 32 species were spotted during the walk.
