Join us for a slow and enriching morning walk through Bagad Pali, a charming Himalayan village near Pangot, where nature, culture, and everyday mountain life come together. This relaxed two-hour guided village walk is ideal for beginners, families, and anyone curious to experience the quieter rhythms of life in the Kumaon Himalaya.
Led by naturalist Kundan Kumar, the walk begins at Jungle Lore Birding Lodge in Pangot and gently explores village pathways, forest edges, terraced fields, and traditional homes. Along the way, participants will observe local birdlife, learn about native trees, understand rural Himalayan livelihoods, and gain insights into how village communities coexist with surrounding forests.
Getting There
Pangot is located near Nainital, Uttarakhand, and is well-known for its dense oak and pine forests.
By Car: Pangot is approximately 45–60 minutes from Nainital by road. Parking is available around Jungle Lore Birding Lodge.
By Bus: Take a bus to Nainital, then hire a taxi to Pangot.
By Train: The nearest railway station is Kathgodam (approx. 50–60 km). Taxis are available from the station.
